Welcome

A collaborative, thoughtful path forward

Dr. Emily Asher partners with each patient and family to reduce distress, cultivate strengths, and build a life of greater meaning and well-being. Care begins with careful listening — and is shaped by an integrative understanding of mind, brain, and circumstance.

Whether you are a parent worried about your child, an adult navigating a difficult chapter, or an attorney seeking an independent psychiatric perspective, you will be met with warmth, rigor, and discretion.

New patients

Beginning care with Dr. Asher

Introductory Phone Call

Through the new patients page, you can request an introductory phone call and provide a brief description of what brings you to my practice. I will review the information to see if we might be a good fit to work together before confirming any phone appointment.

Initial Consultation

During an introductory phone call, we can discuss your needs and determine if we should proceed with a consultation. The in-person comprehensive consultation is typically a set of three appointments where we can begin to understand your concerns together.

Comprehensive Evaluation

It is also a time for you to get to know me. If we decide to work together, we can determine what would be the most appropriate next steps for treatment, referrals, or other resources. My practice style combines various approaches, with a focus on psychodynamic psychotherapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and, if needed, psychopharmacology (medication management).

Fees & Insurance — Private Pay Practice

Currently, I do not accept insurance. This prevents limitations on care from insurance companies, protects privacy, and allows me to dedicate my time to patients. At your request, I can provide a superbill (itemized invoice) that you can submit to your insurance for reimbursement. Please check with your insurance company to clarify out-of-network benefits.

All services are by appointment only. Same-day appointments available with limited availability.
